This project seeks to establish a combined cycle power plant and associated transmission lines as a cost effective and technically viable approach to meet the growing electricity demands. The ESDD was undertaken concurrently with the project feasibility study where preliminary identification of the priority E&S issues was undertaken.
This was undertaken coupled with a rapid biodiversity survey of the project area and area of influence and the pertinent land acquisition needs. The studies culminated in the preparation of comprehensive Terms of Reference to facilitate the subsequent ESIA study in accordance with the IFC Performance Standards on Environment and Social Sustainability.
